Camera phone pic of the day. Old and new

The Charles Dickens Pub with the Shard in the background.

HINT: Southwark (pronounced Sutherk) is much more now than the old broken down desolate warehouses of 20 years ago. But apart from Borough Market, Shakespeare’s Globe and the wine lovers fun house that is Vinopolis, there’s not a whole lot for the tourist. Although there are some ‘genuine’ boozers. And of course, The Shard, Europe’s tallest building. It is about to open a viewing platform.

As we know, the real Charles Dickens now drinks in Soho, with the London Literary Pub Crawl!

Location:Union Street, Southwark
